This is the nest of a 'Huntsman Spider', a special specie found only in Frasers. The clever lil' buggers live in a community and wiped out a lot of other spidey specie. 'Nests' such as these are seen in many areas in the mountain tracks. The Huntsman Spider always look for roots of trees in that manner to build it's nest - as in how the picture suggests. The Prof. who was in the jungle tracking with us couldn't resist but to take this pix as it resembles... ahem... ok... you get the drift. Can't see it? Too bad lol. Anyway, you can see the bits of cobwebs on the surface of the 'hole' - anything that falls in, *chomp chomp*...ok, next....
